Habitat and Geographic Distribution

Botanical description

A perennial, evergreen, glabrous herb.

The stem is 5 cm long and cylindrical, forming clumps of the plant with a diameter of 1 cm.

The leaves are simple, 70 cm long and 9 cm wide; opposite, ovate, and 9 cm long.

The flowers are 2 cm long, with petioles 2-6 cm long.

They are solitary in the leaf axils, with a diameter of 5 mm, and have linear lobes.

The calyx is acute.

The corolla is funnel-shaped and purple, with the tube slightly longer than the calyx.

The male flowers have five supra-petaled stamens.

The female flowers have two free carpels.

The fruit consists of two carpels, 1 cm long and curved. The seeds are smooth. Flowering occurs from March to September.
